National

The national junior lawyers division ("JLD") is a body established in November 2007 to represent the interests of enrolled students, paralegals, trainees and solicitors in the first five years of active practice.  The division has been created in partnership with the Law Society.

The national JLD is the representative voice for its members and will lobby the Law Society, the SRA and other institutions both in private and in the legal press on issues such as student debt, the minimum salary, monitoring and proper supervision during training contracts.

Individuals interested in joining the national JLD and are eligible to do so will be able to register online at the JLD website http://juniorlawyers.lawsociety.org.uk/updates

Local groups, such as the Merseyside JLD, are technically independent of the national JLD. However, the national representative on the Merseyside JLD committee frequently meets with other local JLD representatives and the JLD executive committee to share ideas and discuss policy.

If you require further information regarding the national JLD, please contact the national representative, Jodie Kane, at Jodie.Kane@dlapiper.com.
