Lisa Newton

Charities Representative

Bio:

Lisa is a Trainee Legal Executive at Heaney Watson Solicitors. She is in her third year of the ILEX course, studying at the Law Academy in Liverpool. Lisa says:

Whilst I am a new face to the MJLD, I do intend to have an active role in all forthcoming events. I am very driven and motivated and believe that these are key ingredients when it comes to a good fundraiser. I have a keen interest in supporting charities and have been an active fundraiser for Clatterbridge Cancer Research for many years, a charity which is close to my heart. Alongside this I have also raised money for numerous other charities, taking part in sporting events, scary challenges and most of the time making a fool of myself for a good cause! I work well as part of a team and intend to come up with some new and exciting ways to raise a lot of money for those who need our support! I believe that strengthening the MJLD's ties with charitable organisations is paramount and will put 100% into my role as Charity Representative.

Jenni Palmer

Small and Medium Firms Representative

Bio:

Jenni Palmer works at Heaney Watson.

Jenni says… “Small and medium firms have historically been under represented in the JLD.  This has certainly changed this year with five committee members working at small firms.  I hope to use my time to encourage more small and medium firms to become involved with events and, hopefully, next year they will also feel confident to stand for the committee.  I hope to do this by arranging an event solely for members who work at small and medium firms.  I will encourage involvement at all other events organised by the MJLD.”

Joei says... "I'm excited about my role as a Social Representative for the MJLD in the coming year. I am looking forward to brain-storming with the committee to come up with some exciting and memorable social events this year. I'm most looking forward to contributing to the organisation of the annual MJLD Ball, which is now known to be a highlight in the Liverpool social calendar! The past committees have done a brilliant job in getting the trainees of many of the Merseyside firms involved and I aim to extend that popularity to a wider audience this year with more varied events.

The most important ingredient to a successful social event is the members and we want to organise events that you will enjoy - so if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please contact us!!"
