From May 2009- May 2010 the MJLD's nominated charity was Liverpool Teenage Cancer Trust. The MJLD contributed to TCT events and also organised their own fundraising events.

In August 2009, 12 MJLD members took part in the 'Big Fun Run' in Sefton Park and raised over £680 from sponsorship for the 5k run. The MJLD also helped out by bucket collecting on Church Street in Liverpool when Lloyd Scott MBE stopped off on his TCT T-Rex tour from Lands End to John O Groats.

In December 2009 the MJLD organised a charity pub quiz at Cross Keys pub in Liverpool. Over £200 was raised from entry fees. Winning prizes included hair and beauty treatment vouchers and TM Lewin vouchers.

In March 2010 the MJLD Annual Ball not only raised a significant amount of money for TCT but also raised awareness of the charity, as their North West representative, Michelle White gave an opening speech and introduced a DVD produced by TCT which illustrated just what the charity does and why the fundraising is so important. The raffle prizes included a meal and one nights stay at the Hilton, Andrew Collinge hair straightners and products, M&S vouchers, photo shoot, signed footballers photographs and Boot Camp fitness training! There was also a separate raffle to win a Zip Wire over Everton's ground, Goodison Park.

In total the MJLD raised over £2,161.58 for Liverpool Teenage Cancer Trust and also helped to raise the profile of the charity in the Merseyside region. For more information about TCT and the work they do, both on a regional and national level, please go to www.teenagecancertrust.org.
